Covenant Health System Brand Launch Screensaver Case Study

WHAT
We developed a “Virtual Praise” screensaver that would support the new Covenant brand look and feel. It was a generic Covenant ID badge that allowed people’s names to show up dynamically on everyone’s desktop. Different names showed up to keep people interested in seeing if they got a nomination. There was also other dynamic information on this screensaver to make it more interesting and have more timely information. The news stories below refreshed as often as the news stories refresh on the Covenant website home page.

This was the official Covenant screensaver that would be installed on everyone’s computer before the internal brand launch. This screensaver was to be an interactive experience that enabled the entire hospital staff to participate in the online employee recognition system. It captured nominations and then streamed them into a screensaver.

GOALS
We wanted to allow the hospital staff to nominate co-workers who embodied the Covenant brand. This added impact to the internal brand launch when the screensaver was seen simultaneously across all desktop screens throughout Covenant. The thought was that it would become a viral campaign to further promote the internal brand launch.

FUNCTIONALITY
The dynamic screensaver pulled up-to-date names from the staff directory and incorporated them into the screensaver display. This “Virtual Praise” screensaver wrote the names of the nominations on the ID badge to be erased away within moments. The screensaver rotated names on a daily basis according to nominations. This helped promote the viral campaign by giving instant gratification when seeing the nominations immediately rather than waiting for a voting process to occur. The users submitted their nominations for the screen saver through a simple form page via the Covenant intranet.
